What’s at the Shipwreck Museum?
70 years ago, a Greek merchant ship was discovered by chance by a sponge diver, proving the interaction of Ancient Greek society with Cyprus. The excavations carried out after the discovery led to the discovery of the ship’s hull as well as storage containers called amphorae. In these containers, products specific to the Greek islands such as almonds, cereals and wine were found.
This proves that the ship had a route to Cyprus via Greece and Anatolia and was engaged in trade.
