What is there to see at Kyrenia Icon Museum?

Icons are works depicting sacred Christian people and events. Kyrenia Icon Museum contains all the icons left by the Orthodox Church of Cyprus in the North of the island. Among the prominent works are the icons of John the Baptist, the Virgin Mary and St. George. The oldest of the icons on display inside is the icon from the early 18th century, which is located in the center of the museum.

Icon Museum and Archangelos Michael Church is located in Kyrenia, TRNC. The entrance of the museum, which is located west of Kyrenia Harbor, is located on Canbulat Street. After visiting this very central place, you can walk to other historical places such as Kyrenia Port, Sunken Ship Museum and Aga Cafer Pasha Mosque.

As of 2024, Kyrenia Icon Museum and Archangelos Michael Church are closed to visitors due to restoration. If you only want to see the building from the outside, it is possible to visit it at any time of the day.
