Features of Golden Beach
Golden Beach has a coastline of approximately 2 kilometers long. It is the widest and most natural beach in Cyprus. The beach, which has fine and golden sands, is named Golden Beach because of this feature. The beach is of great ecological importance as it is also a breeding ground for caretta caretta sea turtles.
With one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean, the sea itself is a delight. It is often choppy and deepens quickly, but there are also times when the sea is like a sheet. Golden Beach is located on the Karpaz Peninsula at the easternmost tip of Northern Cyprus, approximately 19 kilometers from Dipkarpaz village. How to get to Golden Beach?
Golden Beach can be reached by following the Karpaz Highway on the southern coastline. However, if you have not yet entered Cyprus, you must first land at Nicosia Ercan Airport. Flights from Turkey to TRNC take approximately 1 hour. In addition, if you prefer sea route instead of airway, there are reciprocal ferry services from Kyrenia port to Anamur and Mersin.
The driving time to Golden Beach is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes from Nicosia and Kyrenia and approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from Famagusta. You can use your own car to reach the area or you can take a look at car rental options. It will be easier to reach this place, which is reached as a result of a route full of dirt roads, with off-road vehicles. However, a slow journey with saloon vehicles will also take you here safely.

Golden Beach is a public and free beach. There is no entrance fee or time restriction. However, due to the natural and ecological importance of the beach, you should pay attention to some issues.
Turtle Breeding Period: Since it is the breeding period for loggerhead sea turtles between May and October, it is forbidden to light fires, make loud noises and use lights on the beach, especially at night. There may be restrictions on beach access during these periods.
Environmental Cleanliness: As there are no facilities or bins on the beach, it is important that you take your waste with you and dispose of it properly. We kindly ask you to do your best for the continuity of natural life in the region.
Respect for Wildlife: You should use the designated paths to avoid damaging vegetation and natural formations and not disturb wild animals.
Sun Protection: As there is no shade or umbrella service on the beach, we recommend that you bring an umbrella, hat and high factor sunscreen.
Food and Drinks: Since there are no grocery stores or restaurants nearby, you need to provide your water and food needs in advance. You can have a pleasant time with snacks you prepare yourself on the beach, which offers an ideal environment for picnics.
