What is there in Iskele Archaeology Museum?
İskele Archaeology Museum was opened in 2018 and its building was converted into a museum by restoring the bazaar building, which was known as Bandabuliya in the past and was built during the British Sovereignty. This historical building is combined with a modern museum approach, offering visitors a unique experience.
The museum exhibits artifacts from eight different periods, starting from the Neolithic Period to the Roman Period. These artifacts reveal the rich archaeological heritage of Cyprus and its cultural history of more than 10,000 years.
The museum’s collection consists of various archaeological finds from different periods of Cypriot history. Needles, fishing rods and grinding stones from the Neolithic period showing the beginning of agriculture and animal husbandry, goddess figures and works of art made of stone and clay from the Chalcolithic period, tools and weapons made of copper and tin alloys from the Bronze Age, ceramic works of the Geometric and Archaic periods, many glass bottles and large sculptures from the Classical – Hellenistic – Roman Periods are presented to visitors at the Iskele Archaeological Museum.
